I’ve only been running for a month or two at this point. My wife just doesn’t understand the desire that pushes runners to run. I believe you have to be a little O.C.D. to truely get into it. I am just now starting to experience the quirks and minor irritations other runners have experienced : referring to 5 miles as a short run, sore knees, cramps, chaffing, or for instance my wife’s face this morning when she walked into the bathroom and caught me rubbing vasoline on my nipples. Sometimes it’s best just not to try to explain your actions and let them stand there flabbergasted. Priceless.

Awesome! My husband thinks I am nuts too ;) Welcome to the blog!

ps- OCD is an essential trait of great runners ;)

Yeah, all non-running spouses think we are nuts, but they still love us.

Good to see another early morning runner. It shows true dedication. Running at 8 am is too easy!

Ah, Jon- running at 8am feels SO good :)

Our spouses love us because we have hot runner legs ;D Oh and I am less psycho when I run :) Probably because I am too tired to be my usual "crazy"

I'm not saying I wouldn't run at 8 given the choice. But I have to leave for work before 6, so 4 am runs are the only way to go. And so I have to mock those "soft" runners who I am actually jealous of...

I only get to run at 8am when the planets align :) Not as often as I'd like :( As of late, 6am is SO pretty, though :)

I love running around 4AM. err um, at least until the newspaper delivery dude starts cruisin' the neighborhood in his Uncle Buck Hoopty. That's my Speedwork, Hill work, and Tempo run all in one. I feel like a combat soldier running "Serpintine" patterns trying to keep from getting run over. The shocks are so bad on that car, and the body work so banged up, he would never know that he hit me. And not to mention the near miss newspaper missels flying out of all his windows. =P

That just means you could put some revenge dents in his door and he would never know it!

Oh my gosh- I thought it was just our drunk newspaper delivery woman. She is INSANE and looks at me like, "Why in the heck are you in my way!!???" or better yet, "Oh- I didn't see you, sure am glad I did not kill you today!"

If you call yourself a runner and run most days your OCD. LOL Yes running is my love, be all and end all, ouch my hubby never understood it but supports me 100% and he cycles with me now some 9 yrs later but he now understands the vaseline for chaffing! Happy Runner Days :-)

My husband is also on the list of "why do you have to get up so early?" He doesn't like it, but does respect my dedication. He just commented the other day about me not having to get up so early (I am a teacher, so I am currently off for the summer). I, of course, reminded him that those days would be back in the very near future. Welcome to the group!
